I had never heard of you until the show. Old fan of Roy & Amber. Now, you, as well. I LOVE your writing. Sorry I can’t subscribe unless you’d be ok with a drop in the bucket as covid forced retirement 3 years sooner than budgeted and then calamities too many really dumped including Hurricane Milton landing a massive tree on our just paid off new roof which took MONTHS to DEAL. F_cking insurance went from $1700/yr 7 years ago to $7800 when UPC left the state. Not a dime from Slide as deductible so high.
Anyway.
Love your writing. Voice of sanity in the cacophony of delirium. . .
About that banana bread - take a shortcut there too - buy a ready mix, add water and bake. Very little work and a chance to rake up as much credit at you can... sooo... let us know how it turns out..
Just lovely. My cat turns 6 today and I’m grateful for her. I’m grateful for the Cameo I ordered by you when my heater caught fire and kitty and I had to quickly move during that freak Florida snow storm. You encouraged me to jet to France to de-stress; then posited that I probably couldn’t just jet to France like you could. I laughed so hard, and I needed that! So, I’m grateful for you, Michael. And I’m grateful that as a species, we’re actually doing pretty good. I wish everyone here a lovely day. I’m grateful for everyone who takes the time to read and grow.
I had a day like this last weekend. I pushed myself out of my war bunker to enjoy a Spring day downtown and let myself pretend life was normal for an afternoon. We must take advantage of those moments and be present in them.
This post was in line with my own thoughts this week. I have been trying to make a conscious effort to practice gratitude in my daily life. Us Americans are incredibly blessed. I haven’t experienced hunger since I was a young child & that alone is something that’s extraordinary. Our ancestors wouldn’t believe our bounty tbh. It’s important to appreciate what we have & to take time to find the joy in life. I told my husband yesterday, I will not allow them to rob me of my joy of life bc then they win. And I believe in the end goodness will prevail.

I've mostly been disengaged from The Nonsense since Tuesday while I've been on Tybee Island with my wife and kid. I did pop into a Savannah cigar shop in which Fox News was playing snippets of Him edited so he sounded not too insane.
Besides that the folks of the Low Country have been a delight.
Did I drive my rental car by a certain hotel you once mentioned on Obscure you live near so I could see what your neighborhood is like? Sure I did. Sure I did.
Anyway I'm grateful for your words and for your town's accommodation of my Disengagement this week.
You weren't fooling anyone. Back in your days on The State, behind the absurdist sketches, I could see the aging curmudgeon in your eyes. You are a cynic. You are Gen X. You are one of us.

I'm very relieved you found that funny and not obnoxious. I mean, it WAS obnoxious but purposely so.
Both lovely and true.
I hope you have good socks, also
Excellent as always, sir.
Hope you enjoyed that nap.

Life is good when a cat chooses to curl up with you while you read MIB. If only I could get up for a beer, it would be perfect.
I have two and I envy the little zen masters so much.
Cats know how to live:
Eat when you're hungry and sleep when you're tired.
You’ll tend your garden while your sleep. 😊
Enjoy a day of rest, it is well earned. & thank you for bringing some joy & laughter to many.

"Some days I need a little tranquility"
Amen, brother☀
"I’m able to be more of myself in a public setting than I’ve allowed myself outside of my books, and it’s your encouragement that has permitted me to do so."
There is so much resonance in the world.
"I’m grateful for the laughs"
💯 “Death smiles at us all; all we can do is smile back.”
"the part about me making banana bread is also likely to be a lie"
So many left unmade over the years, I've short-circuited my banana bread ambitions by reminding myself that the cake is a lie.
"Le chat"
...has the right idea.
"I only said it to make it sound like there was some chance of me going out there"
💯

Now more about the coming civil war...
