We didn’t vanquish the South in 1865 and we let Reconstruction be undermined and now here we are 160 years later with the same festering problem. It must be done again and the earth needs to be salted so there’s never another rise again.
Not quite, but that was an early warning from mother nature to get our shit together. We failed. We are just going to keep plugging along as a species until a new virus or the mounting climate catastrophes collapse society altogether.
I had never tbought of this before, but covid killed 1 percent of the population and we all pretend it never happened. In that show 2 percent dissapearing broke the world. Fuck.
Yep. That show is one of my favorite shows of all time. That disease killed a couple of friends of mine and many good people. Very sad. We are the survivors: the leftovers.
We had approximately 13,000 to 15,000 of us at San Francisco City Hall and thousands more in Oakland, just across the bay. Great signs, wish I could post them. Don’t lose hope….there is an uprising and Republicans will be joining us as they’re impacted. Very few are benefiting from his massive, unhinged actions. The question is , which one will be the last straw?
Georgia just passed the worst voter suppression laws going perhaps so far back as Jim Crow. Paper-bag tests are too low tech: but we've been pulled out of ERIC, the high-tech election national software, early voting and Saturday voting are "by county preference, i.e., toast. In my town, Athens-Clarke County, control of our local judiciary has been engineered a transfer to über-MAGA Oconee. Athens has been progressive for 40 years. Our blue dot is gerrymandered so that a little Nazi is our state rep. (Collins is the national district one. Evil.)
The current governor threw out over 500,000 registered voters to defeat Stacey Abrams because he did not recuse himself from heading state elections, though he himself was running them. He likely will defeat Ossoff via corruption.
In short, I hope the midterms will be fair. Hope being the operative word. We're volunteering our little hearts out.
Will a coupla thousand folks taking a little walk in a cold rain in downtown St Louis change anything? Nah, but that's not the point. We were there. We care. The umbrella people.
Michael, I'm certainly not judging you for not showing up at the Savannah Hands Off protest today. Not at all. I'm just disappointed in you. (This is from my motherly cache of condemnation.)
I am heartened by the protests. But its not enough. They will make violence inevitible. Sadly, history is clear that fascists don't stop until they are forced to.
Ensorcelled - whoa !
The protests give me hope.

Fave sign of the day: "You can't spell hatred without red hat"
The world ended March 2020.
Not quite, but that was an early warning from mother nature to get our shit together. We failed. We are just going to keep plugging along as a species until a new virus or the mounting climate catastrophes collapse society altogether.
Yes, we are the leftovers.
If you have seen that show, it really does fucking feel exactly like that sometimes.
That’s why I mentioned it. That’s what we’re living.

Go Allison!

That was painful to read.

Showing up is so important. It will hopefully encourage others to stand up too….we need courage, compassion and inclusivity now more than ever.

Ensorcelled.
That's why I keep a dictionary app on my screen.
It is call and response. Every action will have an opposing reaction. This is a forever war.

This country is a terrifying place now, and like you, I don’t know how this ends. One wonders how many MAGA-ites are ruing their choices.
