Short of violent insurrection, & we’ve seen that recently, justifiably criticised it, & have no desire to be hypocritical, what options do Democratic forces have if it becomes obvious that Trump’s whining about stolen elections were, like every other of his complaints, nothing more than projection, & he’s going to steal the midterms?
I’m writing from Australia, & while I have no direct skin in this game I’m acutely aware of the butterfly effect of right wing populism rippling its way across the Pacific & washing up on our shores like a fetid Bondi Cigar (Google it).
I own a box-cutter. It sits on my desk. I use it for cutting boxes from Amazon, Temu, & FB Marketplace. I also own two Swiss Army knives, a couple of antique pocket knives, & a small Finnish hunting knife which my parents allowed ten year old me to buy as a souvenir when we passed through Helsinki on a cruise through the Baltic en route to Leningrad (long story …) in 1965. Yeah, height of the Cold War. Anyway, I’ve never been tempted to use them on a pool lining, or a human for that matter. Boxes, cheese, & processed meat.
Keep up the good work on HIGNFY, & the podcast offspring. I really enjoy the perspective you provide on events in our erstwhile ally.
Martial law will suspend an election. We might have to declare martial law against some truly
evil nation that can blow us out of the water. Might be Iran but also could be a nation with a laughable army/navy like Cuba. Maybe a few false flag attacks on American Soil to put the fear of the Lord in us.
Watch the movie Wag the Dog if you haven't seen it. At least read the wikipedia. Also, and this movie was made just a few years ago, Don't Look Up is worth a watch as a vision to the future.
I don't know if Elon's rocket hitting the moon will alter anything drastic on the moon. But it's another reason a rocket hobbiest like Elon ought to be limited to firing off the old Estes Toy

Sorry. Had to twist part of your narrative to include the South African genius. You left him out. His "work" with DOGE not only gave a bunch of computer nerd kids a brief respite from their mom's basement, but will live on to dehumanize, starve, unmedicate those in need for at least 2 more years.

I think a lot about what might happen if the '26 or '28 election outcome is obviously fraudulent. (including, but not limited to, using a false emergency to stop the election in red states, unleashing their rioters and paramilitary forces to affect voting in blue cities and/or using parliamentary procedures to prevent the new congresses from being seated) What will we do? Sure, there would be outrage, bold headlines, litigation. But a few months down the line, will we find ourselfs simply moving forward with an illegitimate government much as we did after the coup of 2000? Or would it all spiral, leading to violence on a large scale?
That's why they are building the ballroom. At some point it will be obvious that they cheated. So they need their fortresses to protect them from the masses.
