One of the most impressive things about NASA convening their first-ever public forum on UFOs was how boring it was. For real, like super-boring. How do you make UFOs boring? They did. And it’s impressive! I mean that sincerely. The UFO topic has gone from the hinterlands of cuckooville to the mainstream with astonishing speed. For those of you unfamiliar with how we got here, in 2017 the New York Times published this article acknowledging, for the first time, that UFOs (or UAP, if you prefer) are real, the military studies them, and, by the way, here’s some videos. Most of the public shrugged. Why, I don’t know. Maybe because most people already believe that extraterrestrials are real. A slim majority believe that “that UFOs reported by people in the military are likely evidence of intelligent life outside Earth.” So when the Times broke the story, I guess it was already old news to most people. Not to me.
I’ve been interested in the topic my entire life, but always put myself in the skeptic category despite having my own sighting, which I wrote about here. For the Pentagon to flat out say that these things are real (although they definitely didn’t say they are extraterrestrial) felt validating. Dare I say… enthralling? I dare.
Since that article, a lot has happened on the government side, most notably the passage of the establishment of AARO, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, whose mission is to figure out what the hell we’re seeing. Not just in the skies, but underwater, and in space. (Hence: “all-domain”) After decades of studying this stuff in secret, this is the first public-facing office of its kind. There’s a lot of cranky folks in the UFO community who think the whole thing will be a whitewash job, and maybe it will be, but the fact that we’ve got a dedicated agency creating data, testing the science, and reporting to Congress on their findings can only be a good thing, right? Even if they don’t find anything, groups like Avi Loeb’s Galileo Project or a host of other private entities studying the phenomena might.
Back to NASA. The most exciting thing to come out of that otherwise snoozy briefing was the discussion of “flying orbs.” Traditionally these orbs take on different sizes, shapes, and colors, but one of the most notable recently captured on video was a metallic sphere flying over a conflict zone in Mosul. The Pentagon released the video in April of this year. In it, we see exactly what I just described, a freaking orb just kind of zipping through the sky with no apparent propulsion. What the hell is that?
AARO reports that 47% of all UAP sightings are orb-shaped. (Orbital?) In other words, these things are common, and they show up all the over world. “Drones,” you say. Yeah maybe, except they’ve been showing up at least since World War II, and probably for centuries before that. If you recall from recent rock-n-roll history, Dave Grohl named his band The Foo Fighters after the mysterious craft Allied fighter pilots reported seeing during combat operations. They assumed they were some sort of Nazi weapon. They weren’t. To this day, nobody knows what the hell they were, except that they were orbs. Exactly like the ones we’re seeing today. Going back further – way further – in 1561, the residents of Nuremburg witnessed an ”aerial battle,” featuring many kinds of flying objects, including ORBS. Here’s the description of the “battle” from a newspaper of the day.
In the morning of April 14, 1561, at daybreak, between 4 and 5 a.m., a dreadful apparition occurred on the sun, and then this was seen in Nuremberg in the city, before the gates and in the country – by many men and women. At first there appeared in the middle of the sun two blood-red semi-circular arcs, just like the moon in its last quarter. And in the sun, above and below and on both sides, the color was blood, there stood a round ball of partly dull, partly black ferrous color. Likewise there stood on both sides and as a torus about the sun such blood-red ones and other balls in large number, about three in a line and four in a square, also some alone. In between these globes there were visible a few blood-red crosses, between which there were blood-red strips, becoming thicker to the rear and in the front malleable like the rods of reed-grass, which were intermingled, among them two big rods, one on the right, the other to the left, and within the small and big rods there were three, also four and more globes. These all started to fight among themselves, so that the globes, which were first in the sun, flew out to the ones standing on both sides, thereafter, the globes standing outside the sun, in the small and large rods, flew into the sun. Besides the globes flew back and forth among themselves and fought vehemently with each other for over an hour. And when the conflict in and again out of the sun was most intense, they became fatigued to such an extent that they all, as said above, fell from the sun down upon the earth 'as if they all burned' and they then wasted away on the earth with immense smoke. After all this there was something like a black spear, very long and thick, sighted; the shaft pointed to the east, the point pointed west. Whatever such signs mean, God alone knows. Although we have seen, shortly one after another, many kinds of signs on the heaven, which are sent to us by the almighty God, to bring us to repentance, we still are, unfortunately, so ungrateful that we despise such high signs and miracles of God. Or we speak of them with ridicule and discard them to the wind, in order that God may send us a frightening punishment on account of our ungratefulness. After all, the God-fearing will by no means discard these signs, but will take it to heart as a warning of their merciful Father in heaven, will mend their lives and faithfully beg God, that He may avert His wrath, including the well-deserved punishment, on us, so that we may temporarily here and perpetually there, live as his children. For it, may God grant us his help, Amen.
There’s many other examples of flying orbs from history which you can find for yourself, but the point is they’re not drones. Nobody knows what they are. The Pentagon doesn’t know. NASA doesn’t know . You don’t know . Nobody does. Well, maybe this guy does. But even he doesn’t know where they come from. All we know is they’re here and they’ve been here. I’m not saying they’re alien and I’m also not going to add the gif of that dude going, “But it’s alien” because that shit is played out. I’m just saying there are mysterious above our heads. Like, right above our heads. And that’s cool as fuck.
Ok fine, I’ll post it:
UPDATE: Not a couple hours after I posted, an incredible article just dropped from The Debrief, entitled “INTELLIGENCE OFFICIALS SAY U.S. HAS RETRIEVED CRAFT OF NON-HUMAN ORIGIN.” For those unfamiliar, The Debrief is a legitimate outlet for out-of-the-box scientific topics. The article is by Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, who are the authors of the 2017 New York Times piece, and who have been on this beat since then. Their piece describes two whistleblowers who have come forward to expose what they know about “craft retrieval” projects going back decades. This is also fascinating in lieu of Christopher Mellon’s article in Politico last week, entitled, “If the Government Has UFO Crash Materials, It’s Time to Reveal Them.” Mellon is a “former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence in the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations and later for Security and Information Operations” who has been instrumental in getting the original UFO videos to the NYT. Speaking on which, I think it’s worth questioning why Kean and Blumenthal were unable to get their piece published in the Times. Regardless, many in the UFO community promised that 2023 would be an important year in the Disclosure movement; if this article holds up to scrutiny, that’s quite an understatement.
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: The Debrief just published a “Fact Check Q&A” regarding the article. This quote stood out:
It’s one of these things…something that’s not going to come out of the article (is that) none of the words and the information changed. Because I was able to verify everything. What people might not realize (is) that we did bolster it. So we added more witnesses to the story that affirm what Mr. Grusch was saying had indeed occurred. That it was true.
Clearly The Debrief understood how the article would be received and wanted to make sure they got ahead of the inevitable questions and debunkers. I’m not saying it will stand up to scrutiny, only that they understood this thing was going to get a lot of attention.
UPDATE TO UPDATE TO UPDATE: Ross Coulthart is another journalist who has been working on this story for the last few years. He’s highly credible. His interview with the whistleblower, Dave Grusch, will air on News Nation at 6:00pm Eastern tonight. Here’s his podcast, Need to Know, with Bryce Zabel, where they talk about the Kean/Blumenthal article and preview the interview. Fascinating stuff:
FINAL UPDATE (I think): A word of caution from Harvard astronomer and Project Galileo founder Avi Loeb here.
Goddamnit I know what orbital means, Charlotte!
*pushes glasses up nose*
I think "orbital" means a trajectory and "spherical" would describe the shape, but I'm too lazy to look it up and confirm.
Fascinating and well-written piece!
