Yesterday was a day. For those interested in such things, a young (but credible) online magazine called The Debrief published an explosive article entitled, “Intelligence Official Says U.S. Has Retrieved Craft of Non-Human Origin.” The article was by Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, two veteran reporters who have done a lot of work on this topic, including co-authoring (with Helene Cooper) the 2017 New York Times article, “Glowing Auras and Black Money: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program,” which opened the floodgates on the current U.F.O. (now rebranded as UAP) phenomena.
Last night News Nation aired a follow-up report on the article, featuring a short interview with the aforementioned intelligence official, Dave Grusch. The interview was conducted by award-winning Australian journalist Ross Coulthart. That report, about twelve minutes in length, also featured Ryan Graves, the pilot who reported the “Tic-Tac” sighting seen in the original New York Times video.
Those in the UFO community, predictably, freaked out. “The most important story in history” was a typical sentiment. But even more staid voices were enthused. Tim Gallaudet, forming Acting Administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) wrote “This news today marks a paradigm shift in our understanding of the universe that will make the scientific revolution in the 16th & 17th centuries look like baby steps.”
There was, of course, pushback. Many pointed out that Grusch himself did not have first-hand knowledge of the crash-retrieval programs he claims exist, instead relying on documentation, photos, and sources within the programs he discovered during his work as a liaison for the UAP Task Force. According to Grusch, he turned over that documentation to Congress when he testified to the relevant Congressional committee. As a result, neither Keane, Blumenthal, or Coulthart have actually seen this documentation, however all have said they have independently corroborated at least some of what Grusch claims. The documentation in question would obviously be highly classified, so perhaps it is not a surprise that Grusch would not be willing to turn it over to journalists, although a true whistleblower, presumably, would have done exactly that.
Another question: if the story is as explosive as it seems, why did more traditional media outlets like The New York Times pass on it? That would have been the natural place for Keane and Blumenthal to publish; apparently, they tried. They also tried Politico and The Hill. The Washington Post did not pass on the story but, according to Blumenthal and Keane, they needed more time to verify the reporting, which the reporters were unwilling to give because “we were under growing pressure to publish it very quickly. The Post needed more time and we couldn't wait.” What was the nature of the “growing pressure”? They do not say, but presumably involves not wanting to get scooped by Coulthart, who conducted something like eleven hours of interviews with Grusch last month, only three minutes of which aired on News Nation last night. Those three minutes contained many startling revelations, including that the US has “a number” of craft and that sometimes those craft contained dead bodies of non-human “pilots.” Coulthart has promised to release the full interview in the days and weeks to come.
Could Grusch’s claims be true?
In April, Sean Kirkpatrick, the director of AARO - the newly-established All-Domain Anomalous Resolution Office - testified to Congress that, “AARO has found no credible evidence thus far of extraterrestrial activity, off-world technology or objects that defy the known laws of physics." So which is it?
Is somebody lying? Sure seems like it. The question is who? And why? Both Grusch and Kirkpatrick are highly credentialed and highly informed. Both have testified under oath. So either there is an actual ET cover-up, which is incredible. Or there’s some sort of disinformation campaign being run out of the Department of Defense, which is insane. Which is it? I have no idea.
What’s next?
Grusch is, apparently, only the first in a string of whistleblowers who will soon come forward, and the implication is that at least a couple of them will be first-hand accounts from within the reverse-engineering programs themselves. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime… holy fucking shit. Yesterday was a day.
