Witty article, thanks. A fourth contribution from the UK to the World may of been worth a mention. The Internet. You’re welcome. Enjoy your biscuits.

The English really do struggle with naming foods! As well as the silly names, there are the foods just named by the color. What on earth is brown sauce? What makes it brown? It’s important information!

(That said, English food is actually pretty tasty, despite its reputation. I wish every American town had a pub serving savory pies and hot desserts with custard and jam...)

Dirty pinwheel! YES! This had me laughing out loud. Thank you. I lived in the UK during my teenage years and visited last summer. I ended up ordering probably the same 3-pack upon returning.

I fell in love with McVitie's digestives when I was a college student living in England for a semester. I still seek them out here in the States, especially the chocolate dipped ones, which probably lose all "digestive" properties. So, so good. I would eat a sleeve of McVities before almost any American cookie. Thank you for singing its praises to the world at large!

The Mexican galletas called Maria's look to be similar to digestive biscuits. They're sold all over the U.S. by Gamesa. https://www.gamesacookies.com/brands/marias

Your last post said to “Subscribe to your horny blog” and you follow up with “You don’t eat Nutter Butters, for example. You get off on them.” Now that’s the kind stick-to-it-tive-ness that I like to see. If I hadn’t already been subscribed, I’d have done so tout suite.

All joking aside, I agree with the point. It seems American food has been engineered to cram as many cholesterol/empty calories into our bodies as possible. I would think that if as much time and money was spend on making addictive food, we could come up with a way to feed the populace without also causing a health epidemic.

And this is coming from an American who begrudgingly loves all those empty calories, lest anyone think I’m judging.

I have found digestive biscuits in American supermarkets. A lot of them have small sections of imported food. It will still be overpriced, though. We live very near the Canadian border though, and right over there in British Columbia they have a store of British Imports and they carry a wonderful selection. I agree about our cookies being over sugared!

My niece hooks us up with the digestives when she travels back to America to visit. We fight over them.
