I agree that the body doesn't work as well as it used to. But hey, that's why we have lifelong friends, right? To talk about the "good old days" and find out which pain is giving them trouble this week.
It's funny how we still see old friends as they were when they were younger, even though the mirror tells us otherwise.
Great Post! I resonate with much of it. Loved these sentences."Wisdom is nothing more than experience put to work. It’s knowing how to listen. How to speak up. When to shut up. It’s gaining a deeper understanding of the human experience."
Ah, Michael. So you are “often startled when I remember that I am a man in his 50’s.” Enjoy these halcyon day, for if you are lucky, you will get to experience all the “joys” of being a 70-something, when almost nothing works like it does now.
Sounds ‘bout right. At 62 it becomes rather more amusing than not to meet a friend and immediately launch into the latest physical update. I remember laughing at this when I was 20ish. “Don’t they have anything better to talk about?!” Yeah, we do, and yeah we get to it - but first that latest knee appointment was really interesting!
Aging. Yes. Aches and pains and wisdom and appreciation for lifelong friends. ♥️ I turn 47 this week, and am finding I’m holding my reading material farther and farther away. 🫠🤓
So excited y’all are back together (come to Philly)! It’s been awesome to watch the State crew keep creating as we’ve all gotten older. Thanks for the reflection - love how you’re sharing wisdom now, in addition to the laughs. Love ya, MIB!
A great read!

"Maybe we’re all Jews in canoes"
Ahhh, the only religion in the entire world who created a fictional God whom they freely admit MASS MUDERED EVERY SINGLE JEW ON PLANET EARTH.
Except for 8.
I'll go ahead and put in the retort of every smug, religious Jew on Earth...
EINSTEIN! THEREFORE YOUR POINT IS INVALID!!!1!1!
Typo? "I don’t if reincarnation is real"

Brilliant. And, same-zies.
Have you ever read Jerome K. Jerome’s Three Men in A Boat? If not.... you might enjoy it, I thought of it reading your closing piece with the canoe!
I hit 60 on Saturday. Just wait. 😢
Michael, maybe we will see it someday on tv...says your f.i.l.

Saying hello to everyone! Hope you'll do a show in LA!
52??! C’mon, you’re not that old. I’ve been slowing down since 75, but up to then it’s just not keeping fit. Not that I ever did.
I've been a fan of The State since I was 19. Now I have a 19 year old. We're all so old. Love you all!!!
