“Good day to you, this day of your time.”
And so begins Bashar, the non-physical entity from the future channeled by Darryl Anka. For the next hour or so, Bashar, through Anka, dispenses life advice to an audience of several hundred. Anka/Bashar has been hosting these sessions for decades and, by now, many of you are probably familiar with Anka’s Hawaiian shirts and Baashar’s staccato cadence. The message is repetitive but compelling: “You are the creators of the physical reality in which you think you exist.”
Psychic channelers have existed for thousands of years, come from all over the world, are male and female, and have different religious and ethnic backgrounds. There’s Lee Carroll, a former audio engineer who has been channeling Kryon, “an angelic entity,” since 1989. Kryon’s message is one of “peace and empowerment with humanity.” There’s also Tabaash, a former Earthling who mastered earthly life and has now ascended. And Treb, a 6th and 8th dimensional extraterrestrial. Others channel the archangel Michael or even Jesus Christ.
Are all these people nuts? Are they cranks? Grifters? Or, most alarmingly, what if they’re real?
Personally, I’ve never put much (any) stock in psychic channelers. The whole thing is just too weird. Too esoteric. Too ripe for fraud. And yet, what strikes me is how closely their messages seem to align. All of the ones that I’ve seen share similar message of higher vibrational consciousness and the Oneness of all reality, typically known as “Source”. Oddly, there is also unanimity of opinion regarding reincarnation, surprising insomuch as reincarnation is not a widely accepted belief system in the West, yet all of the Western channelers I’ve seen treat reincarnation as a given.
Why would their messages be so similar? Is it simply because these frauds have found the right message for the market or is there something else going on?
One of the most celebrated Brazilians is a psychic known as Chico Xavier (1910-2022). Xavier had no more than an eighth-grade education, yet published close to five hundred books, all of them through a process called “psychography,” in which Xavier went into trance and channeled books from deceased poets, literary figures, and his own spirit guide, Emmanuel. The books have sold over 50 million copies around the world, of which Xavier did not receive a penny. All proceeds from the books went to charity. Xavier was even sued by the widow of the writer Humberto de Campos, asking for the profits of a book Xavier channeled “by” the dead author. (She lost.)
More recently is the case of Paul Selig, an American psychic who has channeled around 10 books, sometimes in single unbroken sessions attended by audiences in which his “Guides” simply dictate the text of the book to him, which is then transcribed and published, generally without any corrections. All of Selig’s books are described as “channeled texts,” and Selig himself goes out of his way to say that he does not write the books.
\Is it really possible to communicate with disincarnate beings? The obvious answer is “Hell no.” So why do so many people claim to be able to do so? Why is there so much overlap in their messages? How does an undereducated Brazilian clerk publish almost 500 books in the voices of dead poets and authors, poets and authors he himself has not read? How does Paul Selig dictate an error-free book in front of an audience? Conversely, if time is an illusion as these channelers all seem to insist it is, why do so many of their predictions regarding the future fail?
Here's my theory, which like all of my theories is, at best, half-baked. (I’ll be honest - it’s not even half-baked. It’s not even raw dough. It’s just me pulling something out of my ass, which may or may not be delicious) I do not think any of these channelers are speaking with actual entities. I don’t think there’s actually a “Bashar” somewhere out there in the 8th dimension.
Instead, I think there’s actually something much cooler going on. I have no evidence for this, of course, but I suspect that there’s a kind of energetic stream out there, some kind of consciousness-generated information field that surrounds us. “The Stream” is the collected experience and knowledge of consciousness on Earth. Probably it is mostly human-generated, but may include the conscious experiences of all creatures. but which remains out of reach to most of us most of the time.
There are times when we do access it. Those moments express themselves as instinct, or, more rarely, premonition. It might show up as an apparition (I just wrote a piece on not believing in ghosts but maybe I’m starting to change my mind?). Maybe the Stream shows up in the form of an extraterrestrial, or even as a UFO itself. As more people experience odd events, such as a UFO sighting, that information gets “uploaded” to The Stream, which would explain why certain phenomena show up in one place first, then seem to “replicate” in other people’s experiences until they become “real” in the sense that actual people are having actual experiences with these entities. It would also explain Remote Viewing, which I talked about here.
If that’s the case, then Bashar’s words “you are the creators of the physical reality in which you think you exist,” are literally true.
Assuming The Stream is real, it would make sense that the accumulated wisdom of who/what is generating the Stream does such a piss-poor job of predicting the future because what hasn’t happened remains a potentiality and can only be viewed in terms of probability. It would also explain how, for example, those who claim to communicate with the dead are able to get so much accurate information without knowing the person they are reading; they’re somehow tapping into The Stream to access the information.
So how is this Stream generated? No idea, but if I had to guess it has something to do with all of consciousness being linked, or entangled, in some way. How do channelers receive this information? Again, no idea, but it appears to have something to do with elevated gamma waves in the brain. Meditation and breath work all seem to increase gamma activity in the brain; every channeler that I’ve seen does some form of deep breathing in preparation for the sessions. Interestingly, “abnormal gamma oscillations” are linked to schizophrenia, which if my theory has any truth to it, may ultimately turn out to be a corrupted form of “tuning into” The Stream.
As human consciousness evolves, so does The Stream, which is why Moses channeling the Ten Commandments several thousand years ago looks different than Darryl Anka channeling Bashar today. The message adapts to the times. In a sense, humanity acts as its own Spirit Guide, and it is our collective consciousness leading us forward. Does that collective consciousness include non-physical beings from other realms? I’d like to think so, but I don’t think that’s what’s happening. I think it’s so much cooler than that. Now if I could just figure out how to tune in.
“Place yourself in the middle of THE STREAM of power and wisdom which animates all whom it floats, and you are without effort impelled to truth, to right and a perfect contentment.” -Emerson. (Emphasis added.)
Sleep, per chance to dream, or maybe just take some deep breaths. Songs come to musicians that way. Go to the Monroe Institute and learn the techniques. The answers are out there.
