Far beyond “a bitchfest,” your piece lays out a comprehensive list of pathological (and mortifyingly gay!) political maneuvering that reads like an invoice from the professionally obliging gentlemen callers Miss Lindsay has undoubtedly entertained.

"No price is too high to oppose the morally indefensible. But that’s also why you and I will never be in a position to make things better from the inside. Our voices must always be raised because our whispers will never be heard." Yes, this. I'm reading Alexei Navalny's "Patriot." It's inspiring, depressing, and terrifying. Highly recommend.

No "whataboutism" about it: The GOP and the American Electorate have embraced political violence against your opponent as legitimate speech. Money and violence...America's twin engines are just getting warmed up. Now, just like truth, it's up to each citizen to decide what's right for them.

It was very well written, and the tone and arguments flowed nicely. Enjoy reading your writing.

Interesting to talk about "the room where it happens". I think of the ending scene of Marie Antoinette and what happened to that room.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence Lindsey has a mushroom-shaped mouth.

Graham is the Grima Wormtongue of politicians.

Actually, Graham is bad. Your essay has listed a key reason why.

The man who introduces a federal abortion ban each session of Congress? I hold him & Trump personally responsible for every woman that has died bc she couldnt access reproductive care. He is not a good person, as no person that seeks to take away anyone’s autonomy is a good person.

Very interesting perspective! I have been assuming that Trump had some dirt on Lindsey and has been keeping him in line with the threat of going public with that info . (It’s been pretty evident that Lindsey is gay, but he maintains the charade).

Btw, the firings of the IG’s is unlawful not just because of the required 30 day notice to Congress but more importantly, there has to be a credible reason for each firing. Not just that “the administration is taking a different direction”.

I could never understand why a guy like Graham- a lonely closeted old gay white guy- has spent his entire political career licking the proverbial asses of bigoted, homophobic Republicans who would otherwise have him thrown in jail on the basis of his sexual orientation. What a pathetic example of self-loathing. His mommy and his daddy and his church must’ve fucked him up big time.

You’re becoming a legit political commentator! Great piece, thank you. My favorite line: “No price is too high to oppose the morally indefensible.” I wish more of us believed this.

Agreed. Such a good piece. And at the risk of starting a list, my favorite line comes shortly after yours. "Our voices must always be raised because our whispers will never be heard."

As someone who has done hard time, Graham's whole, "It's technically a crime, but I'm not losing sleep over it" is a garbage mentality. Lindsay Graham can piss up a rope, he's a spineless, gutless, scum-sucking sycophantic half-man. I'm being kind.
