It might not be an extremely large number of people in that specific comment thread, but those of us in there have all been like sharing where we read your writings and maybe an essay we found particularly funny as well as random characters you played in skits that have stuck with us. Not saying all that to fluff your ego or anything, it's just a really positive, cool community for an awesome podcast that seems germane to your interests. I really honestly and truly think people like these need a couple things - first, a hobby, and second, a good friend who isn't a complete bigoted piece of shit.
I made it through less than 2 minutes of that audio clip before I had to quit. Reminded me of a bunch of middle school kids showing off all the bad words they know (and just learned over the previous weekend but act like they have always said them all the time)

Ewww! I am not on twitter, so thanks for reporting on it, better you than me. Your essay just reminds me of a mundane thing that happened yesterday...I was shopping at Sam's and two younger white guys, looked in shape like they did some kind of labor, nondescript tshirts and jeans, were deciding on a key lime pie. Being a fan of those particular pies, I walked by, pushing my cart, and commented, "those are good pies!" They agreed, it was a friendly exchange. I didn't stop, but afterwards I thought, who knows what political views they had, and how it probably was that we would disagree on most things in life, or maybe not. I do speak to strangers, why not, I am a older lady and marked safe from most irritating attention now (literally no one notices you after a certain age, a topic for another day). The point is, it was a pleasant exchange for a millisecond, and it's possible that the most unpleasant people perhaps can be friendly in a grocery store, even Nazis? As others have pointed out, these guys are neighbors, co-workers, passers-by. I will close by saying the minute you have a longer interaction with these people (as you did on twitter) it becomes clear exactly what they are, unfortunately.

It never changes, Michael. As a Christian who grew up in Houston with a sizeable Jewish community, there wasn’t much Jewish hate I’ve seen or heard from friends. But 40 years ago, some friends and I from a music class at UH jammed with a recently relocated NYC musician with a Houston raised wife.
Guy had great original songs with no hidden messages on the demo tape, and I’ve listened a few times over the years. Everything was great, fast moving rehearsals and we got an opening gig but had no name. The BL (bandleader) called me and suggested AUTOMATIC FATHERS.
It seemed weird to me. I called my best friend, with a history degree and a great deal of knowledge re the rise of fascism in Germany. It seemed like a nazi term to me. My friend agreed. With no internet, when I went to classes the next day at Univ of Houston, I looked it up in library (no internets then, kids). It was another name for the SS, who would father the children of Hitlers Germany and be the role models for men.
I called the other band members as we had a rehearsal that night. Told them what I’d found out about the suggested band name. Everyone immediately, and to a man, said F no!!!
We went to rehearsal with no gear. We did it face to face not by phone. His wife was there, which is how I met him because I knew the wife’s Houston musician brother. She listened.
I had made a copy of the books page about this term. Showed it to the BL. He started coming up with all kinds of excuses and was challenged on every one of them. It was then his wife said “WTF, dude? You’re half Jewish and so am I! Our kids are Jewish too.”
We left and joined a new outfit. Wife divorced him soon after that, and the word I got was the BL returned to his native Florida.
It never stops. Just got to do what you can to stamp it out in an individual level.
Can you imagine employing these shitheads? Like how angry that main guy is just because someone has a feminine sounding fake name? Even when he has a rationale for it, he cuts him off as “gay”, etc. They are intolerant of their own intolerant cohorts. Such a fucked existence. The only pleasure I take in this is how absolutely miserable their lives must be. Constantly filled with unnecessary drama, alien to what love is like. God save these wretched souls.
