I'm a night shifter, meaning I woke up the news. I thought to myself "huh," followed immediately by "I still don't want to go to work."

He has lost lots of cases, but they were all civil cases. How does a civil rape case not register with his supporters, or even with the American media, who have all but forgotten already?

Yeah i love how his crazy “Christian” base is undaunted by adjudication of a rape, all these felonies. I remember them being in a lather about FAMILY VALUES in the Clinton years.

They exercise biblical and family values on alternating days, except leap years, when they also exercise the moral high ground on 29 February.

Sadly, you are so right (not the MAGA right, thank goodness). The outcome of this court case won't affect any votes but it still is sweet to know he couldn't bribe/intimidate/lie his way out of this conviction or the one brought by E Jean Carroll, like he did his other lawsuits. And I don't believe he still has 50% of the votes; from expert pundits I follow it's closer to 38%. BUT, we can't take anything for granted . We learned that in Nov. 2016, the hard way. SO keep talking to friends and family, especially those who are in battleground states and YOUNG people. So many 20-35 year olds are not voting. I hear "I'm not into politics". I counter: politics affects pretty much everything in our daily lives and our planet too. And if you don't vote you don't have a say in issues that matter from reproductive rights to student debt, housing costs, health care costs, clean air and water, climate change, etc. ad nauseum.

this is an excellent summary. i was following the trial but about a month ago i had an epiphany that the everything about, in, under, behind, and that comes out of his mouth is nothing but a show.

so yeah great that there were 34 convictions but we've gone past the point where the nays would say it was a fair trial. if you gotcha'd my guy, you rigged things.

his is the most divisive name this country has ever known.

thank you, michael, for your thoughts.

Every word in this article is truth.

Right there with you. Other than the conviction, nothing else has changed.

Nothing. We are fucked until I hear the words Biden won

Even if Biden wins, there's no guarantee SCOTUS won't install Trump like they installed Shrub Jr. 😐

You are so damn right Michael with this piece. Trump is a freaking genius in his martyrdom. I can’t believe that this is how our democracy has eroded.

Americans have come to expect politics and corruption to run hand in hand. That’s the sad part. No one expects better.

We’ve sunk lower than Nixon and Watergate. “I am not a crook,” he declared.

They are all crooks. That’s the problem.

My friends called me a buzzkill yesterday when I said the jury told us what we already know, which is that our next president is a piece of shit. Appreciate the redemption, MIB.

No, not yet. We've been waiting for Nemesis for so many years now that I intend to revel in these all-too-infrequent moments of joy. The balloon will pop someday but I want the helium now.

We all know polls are worthless and I don’t believe half the country is behind him. We’ll have to wait till November to find out.

Probably only a third of population. Many of them are the wealthy assholes who will vote for him for tax cuts and regulation roll backs.

All the trumpets I know and am forced to hear at times say this is a best case scenario. Michael hit the nail on the Id: half of this nation admires the fact that shitbag has no lid on his id. Brilliant, Michael. But sad in reality.

I agree with you that polls aren't that helpful at the moment, but he received about half the vote in the past two elections, so I think it's probably safe to assume he'll receive about half the vote again.

Good point. I do think (hope?) he’s lost at least some of that support over the last 4 years. And the delusional insanity coming until the election will turn off some. 🤞

I keep hoping that the combination of garbage diet, age and stress will kill him.

It’s so disheartening to see people buying into his never-had-a-civics class defense.
