“When we choose ritual in our lives, it’s because we have found a way to structure our lives in ways that please and satisfy us. From there, it’s not even a hop, skip, and jump over to that place where we experience thankfulness.”
love the concept of "carving out routine within my adventures."
love these thoughts on routine:
"Routine, then, really does take on the role of ritual."
"Routine, I think, is also a springboard for gratitude."
i think you might enjoy this quote from poet Robert Hass that i think about a lot (almost REPEATEDLY, some might say): “Repetition makes us feel secure and variation makes us feel free.”
thanks for sharing it all!
love,

PS i saw an article once on the idea you bring up of "why new music never means as much to old ears as the songs of our youth" and i will link it in another note to follow
Dune 2 was awesome! Took my youngest (12) and we both loved it. The 1984 one has a special place in my heart, but the new one is really great!
How was it? Does your son still have a dad?
We agreed it's great.
Oh, thank goodness. A big relief, all around, I'm sure.
Makes me feel much better about getting old… thank you, Michael!
Getting old ain't bad. Wouldn't trade it for youth except for the part where I look so much better than I do right now.
Are you kidding? You look mahvelous!

That’s a beautiful way to look at it.

Please tell us more about your time as a Ninja Turtle.
I can't thank you enough for writing all of this, so I don't have to. Every word.
Now I must go, to finish up my 8,000 steps before 4:30. Then I prepare the mise-en-place for dinner, and have a glass of wine at 5:00-ish.
