“100%”
That’s the answer from Dr. Garry Nolan when asked to assign a probability that extraterrestrial intelligence has visited Earth. He goes further, saying that not only have they visited, but they’ve been here a long time and, moreover, they are still here. This wasn’t some fringe kook speaking at some fringe event. This interview took place a few days ago at SALT, one of those hoity-toity “thought leader” conferences where a bunch of venture capitalists and tech innovators get together and drink overpriced glasses of fresh-squeezed orange while listening to themselves talk about mostly boring stuff. Dr. Nolan’s talk was anything but that.
If you’ve never heard of Dr. Nolan, he’s the “Rachford and Carlota A. Harris Professor in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine.” He’s got 40 patents, written over 300 papers, and was named one of the top inventors at Stanford. Here’s what he’s up to right now:
Dr. Nolan’s recent efforts are focused on a single cell analysis advance using a mass spectrometry-flow cytometry hybrid device, the so- call “CyTOF” and the “Multiparameter Ion Beam Imager” The approaches use an advanced ion plasma source to determine the levels of tagged reagents bound to cells—enabling a vast increase in the number of parameters that can be measured per cell—either as flow cytometry devices (CyTOF) or imaging platforms for cancer (MIBI).
Do you understand any of that? I don’t either. The point is, this isn’t some nutjob. He’s a serious dude doing serious work in a serious field. AND he’s convinced that extraterrestrial intelligence is here now. Along with Dr. Avi Loeb, former chairman of the astronomy department at Harvard and leader of the Galileo Project, Dr. Nolan is bringing serious academic firepower to the study of UFOs (or UAP, if you prefer). People like this don’t go out on these kinds of limbs unless they’re pretty certain the limb isn’t going to get lopped off.
This is one of the most remarkable talks you will ever hear. I encourage you to watch the whole thing, not just for the content – which is mind-blowing – but for his blasé demeanor and confidence.
A lot of people in the UFO community (I am not in the UFO community) believe that 2023 is the Year of Disclosure, the year when the US government admits that it’s been lying to us for decades, that they are aware of (and are in possession of?) craft that did not originate on Earth.
Would that change anything for you? Would it call into question any aspect of your life or belief system? Or would you just kind of shrug and go about your days? To me, the most likely outcome is the last. People will be like, “Ok aliens are real, but have you checked out the new Legend of Zelda?”
One of the most unexpected aspects of my continued debates with people about cultural issues such as white supremacy and guns is that, often, the people I’m debating with will make some version of the following point: “Did it happen to you? If not, why do you care?”
In other words, unless I have been personally shot, why should I care about gun violence? I find this kind of thinking startling; are people that myopic? Do they really only give a shit about what’s right in front of their faces? Is it actually possible to go through life with so little empathy? So little curiosity? Apparently yes, which is why I think most people will greet the most important revelation in human history – if it happens - with a shrug.
To a certain degree, I understand. I mean, unless ET is sending cash, it’s not going to change your life very much. But I’ve always been one of those saps who looks up at the night sky and wonders who else might be out there. No, it won’t put a loaf of bread on my table but it would definitely nourish a deeper part of me. Most humans don’t like to be alone. What if we’re not?
I encourage you to watch the entire video.
For real, though, how cool is this shit?
To me, 100%.
For anyone who's read Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke, meeting even benevolent aliens could have repercussions we should pray we never witness.
One problem I have with the alien coverup stuff is that means Donald Trump must know it now, and you think he'd be able to keep that shit secret?
