For anyone who's read Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke, meeting even benevolent aliens could have repercussions we should pray we never witness.

One problem I have with the alien coverup stuff is that means Donald Trump must know it now, and you think he'd be able to keep that shit secret?

Not sure if you're kidding or not but, apparently, Presidents have been kept out of the loop on this stuff. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton are both on record saying they tried to find out about it but didn't get anywhere. John Podesta said similar, although Barack Obama did acknowledge that the US does not have a full explanation for the stuff the military was reporting seeing.

Yeah, I think it would change a lot for me. If I could see or interact with a hyper-intelligent alien species I would probably be like, "may I please go live on another planet with all the cool people?" and maybe they could help me do that or something

Also, we would redo things like war and defense and it would be weird probably? Why is this alien thing OK with us destroying each other and the planet in the first place? I, apparently, have questions for this thing. Please bring me to its leader.

20 years ago in Iowa, I saw a light in the night sky zip down, then left and then really zip at an upward angle and disappear. I knew it was something much more advanced than us.

The only way I could explain it being able to do that was from an experiment a few weeks before in my college physics class. I sat on a swivel chair holding a bike wheel with handles. The professor spun the wheel and had me change the angle of it which caused the chair to instantly swivel.

No one really listened to me or believed me. So, it is reassuring to hear Dr. Garry Nolan describe what I saw that night.

I don't know if you've looked into the subject at all but what you're describing is a pretty classic sighting so you're definitely not alone.
