I’m surprised no one said DeVito yet. I feel like he’s so “groovy art house 70s” that he’d be into a smaller project like this. Not sure what the character you have in mind is. Maybe even a Tony Shaloub? He’s not that old though…
I’m thinking of the Oliver Jeffers picture book /Stuck/. Hurling increasingly large objects into a tree in a preposterous effort to get one’s kite back sounds like an apt description to movie production. I’m here for it!
Like you said, he’s not the first, he just did it cleverly - through official channels. Equally compelling, as candidate for ‘Legislation of the Year’, is The Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon (UAP) Disclosure Act. It passed the Senate but was quietly gutted in the House earlier this month:
“Congress hunts for illegal UFO programs as the media shrug”
No, I don't hate money, terrified of it actually but you have fans who would like to see your movie get made. But that's probably not how it's done so now I'm embarrassed, the whole gamut of emotions.
I’m a no name actor that has been an extra at Screen Gems and in a couple of university movies. Now live in Summerville, SC just up the road from
your home town. Yes a salary of $75/hr is about right. I do usually require a short nap and must at this time need a cane to help walk. I’m an early riser, usually 6-7am but tend to stay up late for an old foggy. If you might be interested, I will send you a headshot.
Very cool, and I'm so excited to hear about your journey as a director! One caveat: STUCK is the name of a very good (but perhaps lesser-known) film by the great Stuart Gordon, filmed in 2007. I'm sure your movie will evolve into something else *or* it won't matter much, since it'll probably be a different genre or enough time has passed where no one will remember the prior. It's not as if we're wandering the aisles of Blockbuster anymore, right?
Thinking about who to cast in a movie that doesn’t exist yet is one of my favorite past times. In terms of casting old dudes, Harry Dean Stanton was always a top fave of mine (RIP) I wonder if he would have been right for the part?
Ah, ya mentioned one of my favorites, not only on the screen but crooning on the stage. If you never got to hear Mr. Stanton croon with his 80's and possibly later band at the first location of Jack's Sugar Shack in HW, then you missed out. Fortunately, he has recordings out there. Yeah, Harry Dean would have been right for any old man part. I still love his recitation of the Code of the Repo Man, where I was then in my 20's and now I'm older than he was in that movie.
In the late 1980's, an Austin band by the name of Johnny Law had a song on an electra album called "We all get old". Great tune.

From what I understand, it’s a miracle ANY script gets turned into a movie.
Thanks for your comments about “UFO whistleblower” David Grusch:

FWIW: Not sure what the Venn crossover is for your movie and the show Letterkenny but the final season was built around the sense of being "stuck"
Im intrigued !!! Cant wait to see it man!!
Exciting stuff! If this movie has any poker (or even if it doesn't), I know a 40-something actor with a long list of community theater credits! 😁😁

It certainly CAN happen that way - there have ben projects that crowdfunded their budgets. No need for embarrassment.
I would recommend a title other than Stuck. Why? Unfortunately, it would be too easy to remove then”T” in a bad review.

Good luck with your movie.

Can we invest? Seriously
Terrible idea. Unless you really, really hate money.
Or need a solid write off.
Thank you for sharing. Now I’m looking forward to getting Stuck!

Good ol’ Uncle Harry*

Keep hanging with Chad.
Oooh Ahhh! Exciting news. This and the poker winnings!
