Wait; sneakers have brands? I thought sneakers were sneakers. Isn't the best sneaker simply the least expensive sneaker? That metric has served me well.
Pumas are the brand I longed to buy in high school. Back in the Twin Cities, like 25 years ago, suede Pumas with a white stripe were the shoes of choice for all the the "cool" kids. Pumas and solid J. Crew sweaters. Come to think of it, most of the cool kids wore clothes that resembled middle-age adulthood.
I was not a very cool kid, although I think I was a widely recognized kid. I'm not sure if that's better or worse, lol. Most of my clothes came from thrift stores but none of my thrift stores ever provided me with the cool kid clothes, like Pumas. I settled for being one of those girls who wore wide-leg jeans that hid my lipedema legs AND my boring Payless shoes—or sometimes Converse sneakers that never fit quite right. I did my part of dressing like a middle-aged man with long-sleeved button-down shirts, usually plaid, beneath kinda snug t-shirts.
I suppose Abercrombie was also a thing, but I survived HS without ever stepping foot inside one, and that seems like a happy accident.
But oh man... Pumas. Those were so cool.
I can't currently wear lace-up shoes due to my disability, but if things ever change, Pumas will be first on my list.
Thanks for the long-forgotten memories, but oh my god, the people asking how to pronounce Puma are monsters...
I didn’t know they still made or that anyone now wears Puma. One step away from Velcro laces. Just sayin’. I did not see any game in the Pumas pictured.
To better understand what you're talking about, I looked up the word puma.
"A large American wild cat with a plain tawny to grayish coat, found from Canada to Patagonia. Also called cougar, mountain lion, or panther." Good to know.
When I took driving lessons a few years ago my driving coach was thrilled that I showed up to my first lesson wearing pumas. He said most women show up to the first lesson with the wrong footwear for driving. He was glad I not only showed up in sneakers but also chose “the best brand of shoes for driving, hands down”. So there’s that.
nope - Converse All Stars are the best

Well they are big in Europe. They sponsor the Ferrari F1 racing team and Man U. They also used to sponsor Maradona 🤷♀️.
Okay, I’m headed to the outlet mall. If I can find one around here.
Pumas are hot. #istandwithpuma

How. Dare. You.

I love my Pumas too.

BTW, is it P-YOU-ma or P-OOma?
How do you feel about Pony?
Sketchers are the real bargain fit, but they fall apart fast.
