I’ve been a bit of negative Nelly over the last few days, disparaging both the Super Bowl AND the Grammy Awards over the span of 48 hours and, in the process, most likely upsetting many people.
Just came back to Europe after a trip to the US to visit my dad. First thing I bought in the US - frosted mini wheats (Trader Joe's brand, however, simply because it was on the way from the airport). Ate them (and Shoprite brand, eventually) every day, sometimes even twice. Best thing America has ever produced, IMHO.
Getting new drumheads for your drumset and hearing the crisp crackling as you tune, tighten and the play to break in, is a pleasure in the world that only a drummer would understand.
That and people who know what the fuck they’re talking about, AND, have the ability to express it verbally without jargon or hip corporate/science speak.
That key change in Livin' on a Prayer made it impossible to sing in karaoke, though that fact has stopped exactly zero people from making the attempt. Even JBJ can't sing the song properly anymore.
You crack me up:) And as a picky, informed consumer this resonates with me:) Sometimes I wish I could just accept the world as it is instead of railing against the mediocrity that seems to be pervasive today.
I love frosted mini wheats! It’s the best cereal, and better yet, I’ve never lived with anyone who also enjoyed them so I always get them all to myself!
this particularly resonates: "I still think there’s something awesome about a person who cared enough about a subject to take the time to learn all the can about it and are happy to share that passion when asked."
I recently learned that the "Great Value" brand of cereals and other pantry items actually puts significant money into R&D to make their cereals 30% better than the leading name brand product. I live 4 minutes from a wal mart and have yet to put this to the test, but I do always think about this when I have cereal. The plague of capitalism - "There's something better than this!"
This is the best post I’ve read all week! Yes! Tetherball and Frosted Mini Wheat and people who know what they are talking about! Thanks!
I forgot about Frosted Mini-Wheats. The clean underwear/sock thing is TRUTH…also, a freshly made bed with sheets just out of the dryer!!
Michael tell me you've tried the MINI Frosted Mini Wheats?? ....truly incredible.

I accept the brilliance of Frosted MiniWheats but I will fight you about the award level they are. Probably third place on a good day.
Then again, I mix 4-5 cereals in the same bowl of milk. Both the adult good kind and the chaos-induced kid sugar kind. (not on a regular basis)
Experts are exactly why I get sucked into Antiques Roadshow every time. Experts on history and art.
Thanks for the fun post!

I needed this optimistic take on some good in life this afternoon. You crack me up. Merci.

If I ever were to change my last name for fear that the antisemites are coming to smite me, I’d change it to Kellogg.

Medicority?!? In a world that has Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats?
I'll settle for BACON!!
