You might enjoy Keith Olebermann's Friday Countdown podcast. He devotes most of the second act to describing life in LA and the strike. Also, on Fridays he reads a short story by James Thurber which are pretty good.
You said: And to be fair, there is nothing more glamorous than hanging out on Hollywood and Vine watching pretend Spider-Men take photos with Japanese tourists.
I would submit, having spent numerous days in LA, mostly in WeHo but on occasion in deep Hollywood, particularly when the huge Tower records was next to Grauman’s Chinese Theater (now TCL Chinese Theater) There, I got to observe what I assume were hookers dressed in female Disney character costumes, available for pick up by passing johns (known in the UK as kerb crawlers).
There is nothing more heartwarming than to see a character attired as the Littlest Mermaid or some Disney princess being solicited and picked up by a whore monger.
So those characters often aren’t there for photos, tho some might be.
I canceled all my streaming services yesterday and subscribed here today. Honestly, eff me for not doing that to begin with. I'm too busy being a cog in Meta's content machine to watch anything anymore anyway. But I was disappointed that at the end of every cancel screen, I was never offered the option to select "I don't want my fellow creative workers out on the streets."
I won't blame you if you and Martha never come back.
Reading a work of great literature and commenting on it as you go doesn’t count as “acting”, does it? You’re such a natural that it is impossible for us Regular Joes to tell when you’re actually doing it. Please don’t let this important and socially relevant industrial action interfere with my being bored to death listening to Moby God-Damned Dick or whatever it turns out to be.
"The casts of those shorts ever received a dime "
